Let's get started?
What is the best time to make Walnut Cake?
Although this cake can be made at any time of the year, the best time to make and enjoy it is during the autumn and winter months.
This is because, on one hand, walnuts are harvested at the end of summer and beginning of autumn, which means that cakes made during this time benefit from the freshness of the nuts.
Moreover, there's nothing more comforting than putting a cake in the oven and letting the aroma of warm cake fill the home.
Our family loves it, and I bet if you do the same, your family will love it too.
So, without further ado, let's get to our favorite walnut cake recipe. The one that always turns out well, is easy to make, and uses ingredients you probably already have in your pantry.
How to Prepare a Perfect Walnut Cake?
As promised, here is the list of ingredients and a step-by-step guide to prepare the traditional walnut cake for your family.
Ingredients:
6 eggs
250 g sugar
150 g flour
200 g softened butter
200 g walnut kernels
1 teaspoon baking powder
Butter for greasing
Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 180ºC (356ºF) and grease a cake pan with butter.
In a bowl, beat the butter with the sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating continuously. Then, add the flour mixed with baking powder and beat until well combined. Fold in the walnut kernels and mix well.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Check the doneness with a toothpick.
Remove from the oven, let it cool, and then unmold the cake.
On special occasions or if you feel like indulging, try topping the warm walnut cake with a rich egg custard. There's nothing better!
