What is the Burel?

Burel is a traditional Portuguese fabric, known for its durability and versatility and for being soft to the touch.

It originates from the Serra da Estrela mountain, is 100% wool and is produced from sheep wool, which then goes through a felting process that gives it a unique texture. It is therefore an eco-friendly and renewable product, as it is sustainable and biodegradable.

It was originally used by shepherds from Serra da Estrela, when they spent the night for weeks grazing their flocks.

Burel is a very resistant and waterproof fabric, valued for its functional and aesthetic characteristics.

Its density provides good thermal insulation and resistance, making it ideal for the manufacture of clothes, bags, backpacks and accessories for personal use, as well as blankets and rugs, as well as for covering sofas, combining tradition and innovation in unique and authentic products.
